What you’ll learn on the improvement technician apprenticeship
You will learn about compliance, team formation and leadership, project management, change management, Six Sigma project selection and scope, process mapping and analysis, process capability and performance, root cause analysis, sustainability and process control.
Why you’ll learn it
Typically, technicians work as a member of an operational team to resolve problems – preventing recurrence, engaging others in issues affecting them and supporting the improvement of performance by initiating and facilitating improvement activities.
What does the programme consist of?
The programme will be based around the relevant apprenticeship standard but built around the clear objectives and goals of your job and the general development of the business. You will also get a L2 Functional Skills qualification in maths and English if you do not already have those qualification equivalents.
How will it help the individual?
It will help provide local expertise in business improvement methods and basic tools to the team. Possible progression from level 3 Team Leader into a more senior leadership position. You will be able to take responsibility for areas often associated with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
How will it help the business?
It will help the business as the learner develops a clearer understanding of statistics and data from a manufacturing improvement perspective and can implement Six Sigma methodologies within the manufacturing teams. Learners develop better leadership skills and are more able to facilitate improvement activities and drive these through to resolution.
