Development Consultant

UK-based (client sites, travel required)

Apply for this role

About the Role

As a Development Consultant, you will be embedded within client teams to design, build, and ship software that solves real operational problems. You'll work across the full stack, handle messy real-world data, and leverage AI as a core part of how you work, not as an afterthought.

We treat AI tools like Claude, Copilot, and Cursor as essential infrastructure, not optional extras. We expect you to use them to move faster, think bigger, and deliver more than a team your size should be able to. This is what AI-augmented consulting looks like in practice.

This is not a remote-first, sit-behind-a-screen role. This is consulting. You will travel, you will be on-site, and you will be the person making change happen.

What You'll Do

1

Build and ship full-stack web applications for clients using modern frameworks (React, Next.js, Node.js, Python)

2

Work directly with clients on-site to understand their operational challenges and translate them into working software

3

Use AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor) as core parts of your workflow to accelerate development, handle complexity, and ship faster

4

Handle real-world, messy data: scraping, cleaning, transforming, and integrating data from multiple sources

5

Build process logic and business rules into applications, not just static content or landing pages

6

Deploy applications to production environments (Vercel, AWS, Netlify). We ship, not just commit

7

Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and clients

8

Travel to client sites across the UK, including evenings away as projects require

What We're Looking For

  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js. Experience with Next.js is a strong plus
  • Working knowledge of Python for data handling, scripting, or backend work
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar)
  • You've built and deployed real applications, not just prototypes. We want to see live, working software
  • You use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor) as part of your daily workflow, not just for novelty. We're interested in how AI changes the way you approach problems
  • Comfortable with messy, real-world data: cleaning spreadsheets, merging datasets, writing scripts to transform what the client gives you
  • You understand that software is a tool to solve business problems. You think in terms of process logic and outcomes, not just code
  • You communicate clearly and can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative by nature. You work well embedded in client teams and can build trust quickly
  • Willing to travel across the UK and stay away from home when the project demands it. This is hands-on consulting, not remote ticket-clearing

Nice to Have

  • Cloud certifications or experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with Agile delivery, sprint planning, or Scrum ceremonies
  • API integrations, data scraping, or automation scripting experience
  • A portfolio with live, deployed projects
  • Experience in operational or industrial environments, whether that's working in them or building software for them

What We Offer

  • Real project exposure from day one, not months of onboarding before you touch production code
  • AI-first development environment with access to the best tools available
  • Hands-on mentoring and rapid career development in a growing consultancy
  • Variety: different clients, different industries, different problems. No two weeks are the same
  • Travel and accommodation covered for all client-site work

We're less interested in your grades and more interested in what you've built, why you built it, and whether you can hold a good conversation over a coffee.
